Why Are Essential Oils Fragrant?

Essential Oils are also known as natural perfumes or natural fragrances. This is because all essential oils are highly fragrant. They are what give each plant it's distinctive perfume. These original natural perfumes and fragrances are perfect for scenting the body, clothes and home without the use of harsh chemicals or solvents.

When an essential oil is distilled from a plant, it would normally concentrate the plant's oil from it's original state by 50 to 100 times. In this way, each essential oil becomes a very highly concentrated form of each plant's nutrients and antioxidants.

Essential oils can be divided into three groups by what natural compounds they are high in. Each natural compound was designed by our Creator for a different purpose.
1. Phenols and phenylpropanoids (eg. clove, basil, oregano)
2. Sesquiterpenes (eg cedarwood, sandalwood, patchouli)
3. Monoterpenes (eg. grapefruit, frankincense, cypress and galbanum)
